Unison Colour, Terry Ludwig, Sennelier and Richeson soft pastels on homeprimed archival cardboard, 51x76cm, from my own references (plein air sketches and photographs).
After 6 months of separation caused by the pandemic, 3 hours of driving up North and 30 minutes of walking amongst the dunes, here it was, lying in its shimmering glory spread endlessly right and left and and up to the horizon!
My heart was beating with such excitement I was afraid it would burst. So I didn’t run into the sea but sat myself afar and started drawing it. Then I swam.
The water was +17°C but I didn’t feel cold, I felt awesomely alive and completely happy.
